Do you agree or disagree
with the following statement? People should focus on things
they have to do more, instead of doing what they like. Use specific
reasons and examples to support your answer.
We all have some duties and hobbies and try to balance
them in our lives. Nonetheless, some say that people spend way too much time doing what they like, instead of focusing on the things they have to do.
Personally, I disagree with this statement and would like to introduce a few
reasons that shape my opinion.
To begin with, I think people should always live here
and now, and chiefly focus on doing things they find enjoyable. Always thinking
and preparing for the future definitely is not the right option, inasmuch as
that way you may spend all your life waiting and preparing for something. For
example, a child can study day and night for applying to university, and never
go out with his friends. Later on, he will understand that he has wasted his best
years sitting at home and studying, while he could have spent his time
having fun with his peers and creating some memories.
Furthermore, in my opinion, we all live once and
cannot waste our time on things that society believes we should be doing. We
should always find new interests and try to make our lives more interesting and
adventurous, in order to have something to remember when we become old. We can
go traveling, explore new places, make new friends and new interests, gain
some experience in different fields of life to make it full of bright emotions,
and not live our lives routinely.
In addition, we are not always supposed to do things that
people who surround us want us to. We all have our personal lives and we are
the ones that get to decide what to do next, what to choose when to do certain
things or whom
to listen. For instance, a child does not have to become a doctor, only if his
parents want him to. He should try different things, find the one that appeals to him the most, find his passion, and continue living his life the way he wants
to.
To conclude, I believe that people should always do what
they find interesting and enjoy the most, instead of always thinking of the
future or wasting time on what other people want them to do. After all, no one
knows what will happen tomorrow, and we should live our lives in a way not to
regret anything we have done.
